Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam presided over first working session of the 1st International Conference on Promotion of Pashto Language at Baragali. The conference was organized by Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar. Eminent scholars from Afghanistan and Pakistan attended the conference. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Fakhr traced back history of the development of Pashto language and literature. He said that it is the duty of every Pashtun intellectual to play his role for promotion of the language. Dr. Fakhar stressed upon the need to put language above political considerations. He paid rich tribute to Pashto Academy for holding such an important conference and also distributed certificates and shields among the presenters.



The newly constituted Academic Committee of Pakistan Study Centre held its first meeting with Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam in chair. Member of the Committee Prof. Dr. Mujeeb Ahmad, International Islamic University Islamabad; Prof. Dr. Hussain Shaheed Surawardi, Director Peace and Conflict Studies; Dr. Farmanullah, Agriculture University and Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan attended the meeting.

Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam gave briefing about the ongoing academic activities of the centre. These included MA, MPhil and PhD programmes, upgradation of Library, Computer Lab and Research Journal, holding of Conferences, Seminars and Workshops, Students’ activities and Alumni association. He informed the meeting that the centre has signed 9 MoUs with 3 International and 6 Pakistan Universities/ institutions. He said the Centre publishes its annual reports regularly for the last 7 years. He particularly mentioned the establishment of Pakistan Study Centre at North West University Xian China with the input of PSC.

The members expressed satisfaction over progress and achievements of the Centre during the past 7 years and congratulated the Director for his dynamic leadership. They lauded the standard and progress of the research journal. The members presented valuable suggestions for further improvement of academics in the centre.


Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar attended high level consultation at HEC in Islamabad, with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, Chairman HEC Tariq Banuri and other scholars from all over the country. The consultation was held regarding Pakistani chairs abroad. Those scholars who are being considered for different countries, attended the event.  Executive Director and DG Academics HEC were also present on the occasion.
