To commemorate the birthday of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, a seminar was held at Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar. Faculty members, staff and students attended the seminar. Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam was key note speaker. He highlighted various aspects of Iqbal’s personality especially his political and philosophical role.

He said that Iqbal not only occupied key positions in All India Muslim League but was elected member of Punjab Legislative Assembly. He said that the greatest contribution of Iqbal was his 1930 address of Allahabad wherein he presented a roadmap for autonomy and ultimate freedom of Indian Muslims. He urged upon the young generation to study Iqbal’s thoughts and vision.

Selection Board of Pakistan Study Centre holds meeting

The Selection Board of Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar held its meeting with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar in chair. Dean of Social Sciences Prof Dr Jauhar Ali, Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof Dr Fakhr-ul-I-slam, Regional DG HEC Arshad Kamran, Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Balochistan Dr. Usman Tobawal and Director NIHCR Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad Dr. Umar Hayat attended the meeting. The selection board interviewed several candidates for the posts of Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Librarian.

 

 

Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar and Pakistan Council of World Religions (Faith Friends) held a joint National workshop on “ Dispute Resolution in Educational Institutions”. Prof Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam presided over the workshop. Miss Raveena Haroon and Christiana Advocate were resource persons. Selected staff members and students attended the workshop. Mr Maqsood Ahmad Salafi, Chairman Peace Foundation inaugurated the workshop.

In his inaugural speech, Mr. Salafi said that Quran , Sunnah and Pakhtun culture promote peace and tolerance. He said that interfaith harmony can ensure peace in the society. In their presentations, Miss Raveena Haroon and Christiana Advocate highlighted the concept of conflict resolution. They interacted with the participants and responded to multiple queries by them. Prof Dr Fakhr-ul-Islam and Maqsood Ahmad Salafi distributed certificates among the trainees. Speaking on the occasion Prof Dr Fakhr-ul-Islam said that societies and states behave like living things. They suffer from various diseases. The critical and contagious disease of a given society is conflict. If conflict is not cured well on time, it spreads in the whole body of the society. He said that we need to bring into action our religious and social institutions for resolution of conflicts. Miss Remmna thanked the organizers and participants for their hard work and patience.
